Management Team


Dave Oliveira

Dave is a seasoned veteran with more than 20 years of experience at some of the nation’s top organizations, including Yahoo! and Mediaocean. In his expansive career, Dave has worked with marketers and agencies to help them leverage the best of media and technology to accomplish their goals. In his most recent role as General Manager of MBuy, a division of Mediaocean, Dave led a team focused on providing technology-driven media solutions for agencies, including a white-label digital trading desk.


Dave started his career selling media to local advertisers at both his college newspaper and then the Chicago Tribune. He has held national and regional leadership and sales roles at Demand Media, and several other startups. Dave holds a BA in Marketing from Northern Illinois University and an MBA in Finance from DePaul.




Paul Price

Paul is responsible for leading engineering efforts, including software development and infrastructure. With more than thirteen years of hands-on experience in developing professional Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, Paul brings a broad technical knowledge and diverse set of tools, techniques, and best practices to Balihoo. Paul played a key role in developing the software and building the team that created Clearwater Analytics, the leading institutional investment reporting company. The software systems and tools he created allowed a small team to efficiently manage more than $5 billion in corporate cash for dozens of separate accounts while also managing additional trading strategies and hedge funds. In his spare time Paul unwinds outdoors by hunting, hiking, or dirt-biking.


Peter Anewalt

Peter is responsible for the delivery of complete Local Marketing Automation solutions based on Balihoo’s products, and driving customer adoption through training of best-practice usage of those solutions. Prior to Balihoo, Peter served as VP of Global Services for Unica, a provider of enterprise marketing automation solutions. At Unica, he focused on turning the Services team from a reactive, break-even, product and partner support function into a proactive, industry leading, solution-delivery organization operating at benchmark levels of profitability. Previously, he was Director of Professional Services at edocs (acquired by Siebel in 2005), and held numerous technical, consulting and managerial roles with Kenan Systems (acquired by Lucent in 1999). Peter holds a degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. When not working, he will likely be coaching or watching his kids in their numerous athletic endeavors, biking, hiking, or crafting another outstanding batch of home-brewed beer.


David O’Neill

David has been involved in technology sales and sales leadership for his entire 20+ year career. He has worked for multi-billion dollar organizations, including Xerox Corporation and IBM, in various high-profile roles. David moved into the marketing space when he joined Salesforce to help build out the Marketing Cloud organization as the Central Region Vice President; David also served as Director of Global Sales for ExactTarget Social.


David began his career at Xerox Corporation as a field seller, and spent 12 years in a variety of sales and management positions at the organization. After leaving Xerox, he joined Rational Software, which was eventually acquired by IBM, to kick-off his career in software. David lives with his wife and two kids in the suburbs of Chicago. He enjoys golf, baseball, and coaching youth football.


Andrew Piron

With an extreme passion for solving problems and bringing ideas to life, Andrew has worked in startup companies throughout his professional career. For 10 years Andrew worked in a number of venture capital funded startups in the San Francisco Bay Area such as SpotLife, Razorfish, MeeVee, and Roost. In 2004, Andrew and his wife Abigail started a boutique clothing company, Abigail Morgan on Union Street in San Francisco. It was during this time when he became deeply involved with retail, technology, local marketing, and inventory. Abigail Morgan grew to a multi-location business in northern California. In 2008, Andrew decided to change his family’s quality of life and moved from San Francisco to Boise, Idaho. In the fall of 2009, Andrew serendipitously met Pete Gombert, Chairman of the Board, and became intrigued with the problems Pete and the rest of the Balihoo team were addressing within the local marketing space. Andrew joined the Balihoo team shortly thereafter. And the rest is history in the making.


Matt Long

Matt is responsible for the strategic direction and development of Balihoo’s products, managing a team of domain experts, Agile project managers, and user-experience professionals. He is passionate about balancing the future-vision of Balihoo’s products with client-requested enhancements, as well as maintaining a product that current customer love and for which potential clients are drooling.

Matt holds a BA from Duke University. After beginning his career in Consulting and Financial Services, Matt found a passion for data-driven marketing. This passion took him to Capital One where he managed customer acquisition strategies and to Albertsons/SUPERVALU where he headed the loyalty marketing efforts for the western region. Matt is an avid fly fisherman, enjoying his home waters in Idaho as well traveling the globe in search of the world’s greatest trout.


Timothy Rhodes

Tim leads Balihoo’s Marketing department and is responsible for all aspects of marketing including demand generation, marketing strategy, sales enablement, brand development, customer acquisition and retention, and vertical marketing strategies. Prior to joining Balihoo, Tim spent the several years in marketing technology as the Senior Director of Marketing Strategy with the Oracle Marketing Cloud. Tim’s responsibilities were Go-to-Market Strategy, vertical markets demand generation, and marketing strategy for the Oracle Marketing Cloud. Tim joined Eloqua in December of 2011 and transitioned into the Oracle Marketing Cloud with Oracle’s acquisition of Eloqua in December of 2012. While at Eloqua, Tim led the Product Marketing team. Prior to Eloqua, Tim spent 12 years as a marketing consultant to companies such as Sprint, Microsoft, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Caterpillar, and IBM providing strategic guidance and consultation on marketing strategy, product messaging, strategy development & execution, and competitive intelligence.


Christina Tierney

Christina is responsible for driving the Human Resources programs that support Balihoo’s employees and the company goals. Focused on scaling Balihoo’s recruiting practices and supporting our unique culture, Christina is constantly challenging the way we do HR at Balihoo. After beginning her career in financial services, Christina took on responsibilities in staffing and training and found her passion for Human Resources. She grew her career in HR at a San Francisco based non-profit organization, Kiva Microfunds. Amidst significant press from Oprah Winfrey, Frontline, and Bill Clinton, she helped to grow the team from 14 in a small office in the Mission District to 100 employees around the world. Christina holds BAs in International Relations and Spanish from the University of Denver. She has a love for sailing and Latin America – passions that regularly take her south for the winter.




Anne-Marie Packwood

As VP of Finance at Balihoo, Anne-Marie is responsible for overseeing the company’s finance and accounting teams.  She began her career as a staff auditor at Ernst & Young while living in Nurnberg, Germany. Since moving to Boise, ID, Anne-Marie has worked at some of the city’s leading firms and companies where she refined her knowledge and gained insights into all functions of accounting. However, it wasn’t until she joined Balihoo that Anne-Marie realized her passion for working the financial side of a fast-paced start-up.

Outside of the office, Anne-Marie’s passions include a new found love of CrossFit, travelling to warm climates, and spending countless hours on the soccer fields watching and cheering on her kids.


Dana Kerner

Dana is responsible for managing Balihoo’s operations, customer success teams, and supporting partner relationships. Dana has an extreme passion for technology, especially when using it to scale the business, streamline operations, and maintain a strong and effective customer service experience.  Previous to Balihoo, Dana spent nearly 10 years conducting technology and systems-based audits, including 5 years in KPMG’s IT Advisory group. During her time at KPMG, Dana developed a strong interest in helping companies identify solutions and solve real technology problems. This passion led her to Balihoo where solving real marketing technology problems is alive and well.


Outside of Balihoo, Dana is love spending time about chasing after two young boys, running, and visiting her home state of Montana.

Board of Directors


Pete Gombert

Founder and former CEO of Balihoo, Pete is an entrepreneur and visionary. He has been the founder or co-founder of three software-based businesses and has proven abilities to establish the vision and foster the growth necessary to return significant value to shareholders.


Pete’s software leadership experience spans multiple industries to include energy, finance, and media. Prior to Balihoo, Pete founded Enerx, a software company focused on the energy trading space. Upon selling the company to KW International, a London-based company that builds trading and risk management software for energy markets, he became Executive Vice President of International Operations. Previously, Pete was on the founding team of a financial services software and services firm.


Brent Rasmussen

Brent is currently the President of CareerBuilder North America where he heads the day-to-day operations of the U.S.’s largest online job site and CareerBuilder Canada. Prior to joining CareerBuilder, Rasmussen held a COO position, served as Senior Vice President of Sales, and as Manager of Business Services for Xerox Corporation, where he worked for nine years. He holds an MBA from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. In addition to his professional commitments, Rasmussen serves as President of CB Cares, an internal group that supports CareerBuilder’s not-for-profit work including educational mentoring and fund-raising for areas in need.


George Roberts

George is a Venture Partner at OpenView and a former member of the executive management team at Oracle. He has more than 25 years of management experience in the software industry.  From 1990 to 2003, George spent 13 years at Oracle Corporation, most recently having served as EVP of North American Sales. Prior to Oracle, George served in various executive positions at System 5, a technology startup, and at Applied Data Research, a large software vendor, where he drove significant sales growth and exceeded revenue objectives for six years. Since 2003, George has been making private investments and serving as a board member of several fast growing venture capital-funded software companies including, ScriptLogin Corporation, Fieldglass, Inc., and Informance International.


Steve Wellen

Steve’s 30 years of software experience and 25 years of direct sales management experience make him an important addition to our board. As Domo’s COO, he currently leads the company’s client services team, bringing value to customers through consulting, education, and ongoing engagement. In years prior, Steve served as Senior Vice President at Omniture, where he helped contribute to the company’s record growth. Steve has been involved in many  M&A transactions from inception through integration into parent company and maintained SaaS services revenue at 100% plus year-over-year growth for four straight years. Steve has received a number of district, regional, and national sales awards, and has been integral in planning, strategy, and taking private companies public.


Mark Solon

Mark is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Highway 12 Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm investing in the most promising high-growth, entrepreneurial companies in the Intermountain West. Prior to Highway 12 Ventures, Mark was a General Partner at Atlantic Capital Group, a private equity firm in Boston. Mark is a director of multiple Highway 12 portfolio companies as well as the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association. He is also on the advisory board of the College of Engineering at Boise State University and currently serves on The Idaho Business Coalition for Education Excellence.


JK Hullett

JK Hullett brings 15 years of financial and operational experience from both public companies, where he worked in corporate and business development at American Airlines, and private companies, where he was CFO of @Last Software and CEO of Net Identity. During his career, JK has been involved in over a half of a billion dollars of mergers and acquisitions activity. He is Lacuna’s CFO and oversees all the Funds’ mergers and acquisitions and its legal compliance. In addition, JK works with the Fund’s portfolio companies on operational and corporate strategy initiatives.


Tien-Ahn Nguyen

Tien-Anh Nguyen is Director of Market Insights at OpenView, a member of the OpenView Investment Committee, and leads the Research and Analytics Team at OpenView Labs. He joined the firm in 2007 after graduating from Harvard University with a degree in Mathematics and studying abroad at Ecole Polytechnique in France. At OpenView Labs, he is focused on leading market and product strategy engagement with OpenView’s portfolio companies and developing innovative research strategies for market segmentation, marketing channels research and marketing operations optimization. He is a Certified ScrumMaster and Scrum Product Owner.
