Vice President of Sales, North America

Balihoo (www.balihoo.com) is hiring a Vice President of Sales to lead sales efforts in North America as the company enters a period of significant growth. 

Over the past two years, the company has focused largely on working with industry leaders to develop technologies that are critical to the transformation of the advertising media industry.  We are seeking a media industry veteran that can leverage his or her personal knowledge and contacts in order to build a team and generate significant business against our current set of media-driven solutions.

Since concluding Beta in January of 2008, Balihoo has closed significant contracts with industry leaders in the media buying and publishing space.  We are seeking a dynamic sales leader who will capitalize upon this initial traction and increase it through new client acquisitions, extensions of current client contracts, and development of new market opportunities.

The company is in the process of dividing sales responsibilities geographically – the current VP of Sales will assume responsibilities for Europe and will be available for transition of current North American clients and sales efforts.

The Vice President of Sales, North America, will join the senior management team and work closely in conjunction with company leadership to define and implement Balihoo’s sales strategy for both media buying and media publishing clients.  This person will be expected to build and cultivate relationships with senior (C-level) leaders in top-tier advertising and publishing organizations and should have considerable experience building deep relationships across senior levels of complex media organizations.

This person will be expected to lead both an inside and outside sales staff, and should be able to demonstrate experience leading such diverse sales teams, forecasting and reporting upon sales expectations and results, and developing and managing pay and incentive structures to drive and motivate the team. 

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • 15+ years experience in sales in advertising media
  • Direct experience or high comfort level in an entrepreneurial, start-up environment
  • Strong technology, presentation, and communication skills

The preferred location for this role is New York City.  Travel will be variable, but any candidate should be comfortable traveling between 25-75% of the time.

The compensation for this position will include competitive base pay, an attractive sales commission structure, stock options, and benefits.
